Jean Primozich Receives First SVU Professional Achievement Award

Jean F. Primozich, BS RVT FSVUThe first SVU Professional Achievement Award was presented in Baltimore at the 2007 Annual Conference to Jean F. Primozich, BS RVT FSVU of Seattle, WA. She received this distinguished SVU award in recognition of her lifetime of contributions in vascular technology research and education at the University of Washington for 30 years, and for her outstanding work as a vascular ultrasound author, lecturer and panelist.

Jean worked as part of the internationally recognized research team under the leadership of Professor D.E. Strandness, MD, the acknowledged father of noninvasive diagnosis. She performed the majority of patient studies that provided the basic data for the development of the diagnostic criteria for carotid artery stenosis diagnosis by ultrasound that is accepted throughout the world. As an outstanding clinical researcher, Jean also has independently developed her own reputation in North America, Europe and Australia for her dedicated work in noninvasive vascular diagnosis.

The SVU Professional Achievement Award is to be awarded to a past or current member who has made substantial contributions to the vascular technology profession through education (traditional or non-traditional) or scientific research (contributor, implementation or new modality). Recipient receives an award plaque and a $1000 cash award, with $500 given to the award recipient and $500 contributed in the name of the recipient to the Anne Jones Scholarship Fund.
