Michelle Green Named Recipient of the 2007 Anne Jones Educational Scholarship

Michelle Y. Green of Staten Island, NY, has been named the recipient of the 2007 Anne Jones Educational Scholarship. Michelle is a vascular ultrasound student at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), School of Health Related Professions, Newark, NJ.

Michelle will receive a $2,500 scholarship check for her fall 2007 school tuition at UMDNJ. She also received a Certificate from SVU in recognition of her educational scholarship.

A total of eight vascular ultrasound students entered the 2007 Anne Jones Scholarship competition. Each student was judged on their academic grade point average, a written essay on their career goals, two letters of recommendation, extracurricular activities and financial need.

This SVU annual education scholarship, which was first awarded in 2006, honors the many contributions made to SVU and the vascular ultrasound profession by Anne Jones, former SVU President (1985-1986) and former Chair of SVU's Government Relations Committee for several years. Her commitment, tenacity and many contributions to the vascular ultrasound profession over the years are matched by few in the vascular ultrasound profession. The purpose of the annual Anne Jones Scholarship is to provide a qualified student applicant with a monetary amount to further her/his education in vascular ultrasound so she/he can pursue a career in the vascular ultrasound profession. The scholarship is funded mainly by voluntary contributions by SVU members.
