Chapters BreakfastA Chapters-sponsored Breakfast is being planned for the SVU 2007 Annual Conference in Baltimore. This event will be an opportunity for interested persons to obtain information about established chapters in their area or how to organize a new chapter. Additional details will be announced in the upcoming months. Northwest Vascular Technologists Annual MeetingThe 21st Annual NWVT Conference was held October 7-8 at the Edmonds Conference Center in Edmonds, WA, with 11 AM A Category I CMEs awarded for the full conference. In addition to their business meeting, there were a wide variety of topics presented ranging from Effective Teaching and Training Techniques, Carotid Stenting, AV Fistulae, Radial Artery Mapping, Venous Reflux Protocols, Reimbursements, and Customized Reporting. Further information about this chapter can be obtained at their website www.nwvt.org, along with instructions on how to review copies of some of the presentations. South Central Texas Vascular Ultrasound Society Holds Inaugural MeetingThis 'soon to be official' chapter of SVU got off to a fantastic start with over 50 people in attendance for a fun-filled first function, focused on fistulae. On October 26, the "South Central Texas Vascular Ultrasound Society" had its first meeting. Ronald Blumoff, MD FACS, and Brian Hembling, BS RVT presented an update on surgical technique and non-invasive evaluation of primary fistulae. Zonare Ultrasound was generous to sponsor this meeting. Two SVU CME credits were provided. This group is just getting started and is open to anyone in the south central Texas region that is interested in learning more about vascular ultrasound. We have identified about 20 members who are actively working towards making our society a success. Over the next month this group of members will be working on getting our SVU affiliated chapter status officiated, our bank account created, and our plans for our next educational event finalized. We are hoping to offer quarterly educational opportunities, and are shooting for late February 2007 for our next meeting. We would also like to extend our thanks to our neighbors in the Houston SNIVT chapter who have offered guidance and assistance in getting our group moving in the right direction. We look forward to working with you! If you would like information about our group or want to come to the next meeting, please e-mail Brian Hembling at brian.hembling@gmail.com. SVU's 30th AnniversarySVU invites all its affiliated chapters to participate in the SVU 30th Anniversary Annual Conference in Baltimore next June by sponsoring an event, award, or 30th Anniversary activity. There will be an SVU 30th Anniversary Gala Reception on Friday, June 8, 2007, at the Sheraton Inner Harbor Hotel in Baltimore with a DJ, special guests, food and drinks, games and decorations. Chapter Sponsorships also can go toward the Chapters Breakfast meeting, as well as entertainment (DJ), games, food, decorations, and multiple other items.
