Twin Cities Vascular Society

The Twin Cities Vascular Society (TCVS), our newest affiliated chapter, held their first meeting in September with 30 attendees. The Chapter plans to hold quarterly meetings with the next one slated for January. They are lucky to have the College of St. Catherine donate their facilities for the meetings. Plans include speakers as well as discussions amongst members concerning case studies, protocols, and diagnostic criteria from their facilities. Chapter President Jill Sandstrom and her Board have done a great job getting this new SVU affiliated chapter up and running.

Maryland Regional Vascular Society

The Maryland Regional Vascular Society (MDRVS) held a meeting on October 21, 2006 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center. Speakers and topics included Dr. William Flinn on Vascular Screening, Dr. Kenneth Rholl on Quality Assurance, Dr. Jennifer Heller on RF Ablation, and hands-on scanning sessions. The meeting provided 4 CME credits.

Central Virginia Vascular Technologists and Eastern Virginia Vascular Technologists

The Central Virginia Vascular Technologists (CVVT) and the Eastern Virginia Vascular Technologists (EVVT) joined together to hold their bi-annual vascular symposium on October 21-22. The meeting was held at an ocean front hotel in Virginia Beach and was attended by over 80 people. The meeting provided 10 CME credits. Topics for discussion included pre-operative assessment prior to fistula placement, endovascular therapy for varicose veins, cardiac effects on vascular testing, renal duplex examinations, duplex evaluation of aortic endografts, carotid endarterectomy versus stent placement and unusual case study pathology. The keynote speaker was Anne Jones, RN, BSN, RVT, RDMS, who brought the attendees up to date on current government relation issues. The meeting was generously supported by the following vendors: Biosound, GE, Hitachi/Medason, InRecordTime, Nicolet, Parks/US Instruments, Philips, Terason, Unetixs, and Zonare. The representatives from Parks made an additional $200 donation to the SVU Government Relations Fund. The last CVVT chapter meeting for 2006 will be held in the first week of December. Nominations will be taken for the positions of President and Treasurer and newly elected officials will be voted on at this meeting. SVU’s 30th Anniversary

SVU invites all its affiliated chapters to participate in the SVU 30th Anniversary Annual Conference in Baltimore next June by sponsoring an event, award, or 30th Anniversary activity. There will be an SVU 30th Anniversary Gala Reception on Friday, June 8, 2007, at the Sheraton Inner Harbor Hotel in Baltimore with a DJ, special guests, food and drinks, games and decorations. Chapter Sponsorships can go toward entertainment (DJ), games, food, decorations, and multiple other items. For further information, please contact Missi McLean at mmclean@svunet.org. Annual Conference sponsorship participation by chapters will replace the Silent Auction this year.
