NYCVUA met on July 15, 2006

The New York City Vascular Ultrasound Association (NYCVUA) held a meeting on July 15, 2006 at the New York University Medical Center. Topics included Carotid Duplex, Angle Correction with Duplex, and TCD. Speakers were George Berdejo, Cliff Araki, Joshua Cruz, Brian Murach, and Gwen Carmel. The meeting was a successful effort by Joshua Cruz, NYCVUA President, and the Board, with 38 people in attendance. Vendors included Phillips, Turumo Cardiovascular, and Zonare Medical.

NEPVC met on Sept. 20, 2006

The Northeast Pennsylvania Vascular Chapter (NEPVC) held an educational meeting on September 20th at St. Lukes Hospital in Bethlehem. Bob Kane from Navix Diagnostix discussed changes in legislation and reimbursement affecting the vascular lab. A second NEPVC meeting is scheduled for October 28. Topics for the 10/28 meeting include Thyroid Ultrasound and the Hepatic System. Speakers are Dr. Doll, Dr. Silver, and Rick Dubin, AS, RDMS, RVT. NWVT to meet on Oct. 7-8, 2006

Need CME credits? The Northwest Vascular Technologist 21st Annual Conference will be held in Edmonds, Washington on October 7-8, 2006. We are anticipating between 9-11 CME credits for Saturday and Sunday. We have excellent speakers, a wide variety of sponsors, great food and a fantastic venue.

CVVT/EVVT to meet on Oct. 21-22

The Central Virginia Vascular Technologists (CVVT) and Eastern Virginia Vascular Technologists (EVVT) will be holding their bi-annual vascular symposium on October 21-22, 2006 at the Virginia Beach Resort Hotel and Conference Center, and will offer 10 CME credits. Topics will include pre-operative AVF assessment, endovascular laser therapy for varicose veins, cardiac effects of vascular testing, carotid stenting, duplex evaluation of renal arteries and endovascular grafts, and last but not least, a government relations update provided by Anne Jones. South Texas Chapter Inaugural Meeting on Oct. 26, 2006

Brian Hembling of San Antonio has announced the inaugural meeting of a proposed new South Texas Chapter will be held on Oct. 26 at Dave and Busters Restaurant, 440 Crossroads Blvd., in San Antonio, tel. 210-515-1515. There will be a social gathering at 6:30 pm and a 7 pm presentation of “Duplex of Primary Fistulae.” One CME is expected to be provided. Dinner is sponsored by Zonare Ultrasound. Joint KVS/ONKIVT meeting set for October 28

The plans are coming along for a combined meeting of the Kentucky Vascular Society (KVS) and the Ohio-Northern Kentucky-Indiana Vascular Society (ONKIVT). Tentative meeting date is October 28 at the Northern Kentucky METS Center in Florence, KY. Speakers include cardiologist Dr. Gurley, who will speak on PFO closure; an IT expert speaking on PACS/mini-PACS; a vascular surgeon speaking on venous ablation; an ergonomics speaker; and our own SVU President-Elect Michael Schwebler. Several other speakers are planned and 4-5 CMEs will be offered.
