SVU Members Can Nominate Someone for a 2007 SVU Service Award as well as the Pioneer Award and the new Professional Achievement Award

SVU members have the unique opportunity to honor a hard working and dedicated colleague you know in our Society and the vascular ultrasound profession by nominating them for a 2007 SVU Service Award and the 2007 Pioneer Award. In addition, SVU has introduced a new Professional Achievement Award for 2007.

These awards will be presented at SVU’s 30th Anniversary Annual Conference during the 2007 Vascular Annual Meeting, June 7-9, 2007 in Baltimore.

The SVU Service Awards that could be presented in Baltimore include:

• Leadership Award
• Distinguished Service Award
• Certificate of Appreciation.

According to Awards Committee Chair Pat Marques, “These prestigious SVU Awards give deserved recognition to fellow SVU members and their colleagues for their outstanding contributions, leadership, and service in the field of noninvasive vascular technology, as well as to SVU.”

Pat also is looking for nominations for the new SVU Professional Achievement Award that will be presented for the first time in 2007 to a past or current SVU member who has made substantial contributions to the vascular technology profession through education (traditional or non-traditional) or scientific research (contributor, implementation or new modality.

Nominations also are requested for the 2007 SVU Pioneer Award, which recognizes an individual’s outstanding pioneer contributions to the field of noninvasive vascular diagnostics.

The description and qualifications for each award, as well as the list of all previous SVU award recipients, is posted on the SVU website membership page at www.svunet.org/members/awards.htm. A Nomination form for a 2007 SVU Award is available on the SVU website, and can be printed and faxed to the national headquarters at 301-459-5651, or you may electronically submit the 2007 Award nomination form from the SVU website Awards page by clicking on “Nominate a Colleague” and filling out the required information.

The deadline for submitting a 2007 SVU Award nomination form to the Awards Committee for consideration is February 15, 2007. Thanks to the many award nominations received last year, SVU was able to recognize several deserving SVU colleagues at the 2006 SVU Annual Conference in Philadelphia last June. Let’s keep that momentum going and recognize more deserving SVU members with an SVU Service Award in 2007! Remember, please submit your 2007 Service Award, Pioneer Award or Professional Achievement Award nomination form to the SVU national office by the February 15, 2007 deadline for nominations.
