20 Nova Southeastern University Students Join SVU

The inaugural Vascular Sonography class at Nova Southeastern University, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, has just completed their academic training and is now beginning a one year clinical externship. As the students gradually emerge from the direct tutelage of professors and university personnel, they realize the benefits of belonging to a professional society that will support them in the years to come. For that reason, our entire class of 20 students elected to use student funds gained through bake sales and Student Government Accounts to all become Student Members of the Society of Vascular Ultrasound.

These students realize the value of membership that links them to more than 4,000 members of the vascular ultrasound profession. They also know that their education doesn’t stop with graduation, but continues on in their career. Valuable SVU publications such as e-Spectrum and the Journal for Vascular Ultrasound (JVU) help keep them aware of important government and reimbursement issues as well as the latest trends in testing and research. They know that the SVU is their advocate for regulatory and legislative issues affecting the profession. And they also know the value of the great discounts they receive for the Annual Meeting and regional education conferences.

In sum, we have taught our students well. They know its “smart” to be a Student Member of the SVU.
