SVU Annual Conference in Chicago

I look forward to seeing many members from SVU Affiliated Chapters at the 28th SVU Annual Conference in Chicago, June 16-18, 2005, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago Hotel.

I want to remind all affiliated chapter members, especially the chapter presidents who will be in Chicago, to plan to attend the combined Chapters and Membership Committee meeting on Friday, June 17, from 5:00-6:00 pm in the Comiskey Room, Bronze Level, West Tower of the Hyatt Regency Hotel. We will discuss various Chapters Committee activities currently underway, such as the Chapters listserv, pending projects, and possible future projects to help the Affiliated Chapters.

We still are looking for additional volunteers to help the SVU staff in Chicago. If you have some time to help out, please contact Missi McLean at the SVU office: tel. 800-788-8346 or email: mmclean@svunet.org. Thanks for your help. See you in Chicago later this month.

Chicago Area Vascular Association Affiliated Chapter

Kathy Kilker, President of the Chicago Area Vascular Association (CAVA), reports that the chapter has been contacting vendors to participate in the SVU Silent Auction at the Chicago Annual Conference, arranging to provide several CAVA members as volunteers to assist the SVU staff in the operation of the SVU Annual Conference, and putting together a list of “Things to do in Chicago” for the Chicago Annual Conference attendees. Thanks to Kathy and all of the CAVA members for their help.

NJVA Contribution to SVU Government Relations Fund

Special thanks to the North Jersey Vascular Association (NJVA), which recently made a generous $300 contribution to SVU’s Government Relations Fund. The contribution was sent in by NJVA President Jeanette Flannery and Virginia Vyniski on behalf of the NJVA. A note with the NJVA $300 check said, “On behalf of our chapter and all our technologists, we would like to thank SVU for all the work you have done that has resulted in marvelous accomplishments for the vascular ultrasound profession. This check is a small token of our appreciation. Keep up the good work!” The SVU Board of Directors sincerely appreciates the $300 contribution to the GR Fund by the NJVA. Thanks! Individual SVU members also have contributed more than $8,700 this year to the GR Fund along with their dues renewal payments. The contributions are used to help pay for SVU’s monthly regulatory/legislative advocacy retainer fee with Sidley Austin Brown & Wood.
