Status Report on SAAAVE Act of  2004 Last June the “Screening Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms Very Efficiently (SAAAVE) Act of 2004 (House bill 4626/Senate bill 2553) was introduced in Congress. This bipartisan legislation is proposed to enact a change in the Medicare program that would cover a one-time ultrasound screening for abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) in high-risk individuals at age 65 or older.

 Medicare Announces Coverage of Carotid Artery Stenting in FDA Post-Approval Studies CMS issued a final National Coverage Determination expanding coverage of Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty (PTA) of the carotid artery with stenting to Medicare-eligible participants.
New CMS Coding Changes Will Help Beneficiaries and Speed Use of Technology Improvements by Medicare to the process it uses to update the code sets that make it possible to pay for certain health care items and services will help get new technologies to patients more quickly.
