September 2004 | Vol. 22, No. 9 Chapter Newsby Shelly Burns, RVT, LPN New SVU Northwest Regional AdvisorWe have a new Regional Advisor for the Northwest Chapter Region. Jill Beithon has graciously accepted to take this role on and assist us in maintaining communication with the chapters in this region: Intermountain Vascular Technologists (IVT)- Boise, ND; Northwest Vascular Technologists (NWVT)- Beaverton, OR; Red River Valley Noninvasive Vascular Society (RRVNVS)- Grand Forks, ND; and Vascular Association of Southern Oregon (VASO)- Central Point, OR. Jill will be contacting you soon. Red River Valley Noninvasive Vascular Society MeetingRRVNVS is holding a 2-day seminar on Oct. 8-9 at the Maplelag Resort in Callaway, MN. Day 1 (Oct. 8) is free and consists of roundtable discussions which include 2004 CPT codes, US Department Policies and Procedures, education materials, ARDMS breast exam, the new fetal echo exam, staffing pay and scales, on-call issues, and US schools. Various labs attend and bring their Policy and Procedure Manuals, CPT books, worksheets, job descriptions, etc. What a great idea to streamline vascular labs! Last year there were 30 different facilities involved. Day 2 (Oct. 9), which costs $40 to attend, consists of talks on carotid duplex, contrast imaging, venous imaging, vascular lab accreditation, hepatoportal imaging, and renal artery duplex. RRVNVS holds this annual meeting at a cost of $40 to all, which includes a $10 chapter membership. This is their way of capturing members without worrying about sending out a new membership application every year. For more info on this RRVNVS Seminar please contact Jill Beithon at 218-736-8347 or ultrasound@lrhc.org. Thanks to Jill Beithon, RRVNVS Chapter President, for sharing this information. Request for Case StudiesGene Doverspike, RVT, Clinical Instructor and Research Sonographer for University Hospitals of Cleveland, is accepting case studies for inclusion in an educational, interactive website.
