Candidate Statement: It is important that the Society promote and support the practice of vascular ultrasound as a specialty. We owe our patients our perseverance, integrity and the best accuracy of testing we can provide. We have a lack of enough educational programs for high quality vascular technologists or sonographers. We need more leadership from our field in order to maintain the exacting standards of professionalism that our Founding members strived to establish. SVU must continue to address issues of education, quality and accuracy of testing, and foster continuing leadership in the field of vascular technology. We should be the reference standard for excellence and as SVU President George Berdejo has stated, “the voice of vascular ultrasound.”

Candidate Statement: I believe SVU should continue focusing on ways to raise the standards in our profession. One way to achieve this would be to work with organizations such as ARDMS in an effort to set higher standards with the registry exam. In addition, focus should be placed on encouraging the creation of more educational programs and marketing the profession to attract students to these programs. I believe SVU is striving towards these goals, but a continued effort will be paramount.
