2004 SVU Board Election

Based on the recommendations of the 2004 Nominating Committee, the Board approved four candidates for the three open Board Director positions on the 2005-2007 Board of Directors, and one candidate for a one-year term as Secretary. All of these positions will be effective January 1, 2005.

The reason that the Secretary position is for only one year is that before the 2003 Annual Election the sole Secretary candidate withdrew from the election for personal reasons. Thus, no Secretary was elected in 2003 for a two-year term starting in 2004. Instead, the Board appointed Board Director Kathy Carter to serve a one-year term in 2004 as Acting Secretary until a Secretary could be elected for a one-year term in 2005.

In the 2005 Annual Election all officer positions, except for President, will be up for election to two-year terms starting in 2006.

The SVU Officers and Board of Directors will continue to face many challenging issues facing the vascular ultrasound profession, as well as the Society itself, as other organizations move into the ultrasound field.

Voting by Official SVU Absentee Ballot

For those who cannot be in Anaheim or who will be there but would just prefer to vote in advance by absentee ballot, go to the 2004 SVU Election Official Absentee Ballot. The deadline for Absentee Ballots to be received at the SVU national office is Friday, May 21, 2004.

On-site Voting in Anaheim

On-site voting will take place in SVU booth #138 in the exhibit hall on Thursday, June 3, and Friday, June 4. You will have the opportunity to meet the candidates on Thursday afternoon, June 3, after the SVU Service Awards Presentations. If you voted by absentee ballot, you cannot also vote in Anaheim. The 2004 Election Results will be announced on Saturday afternoon, June 5, after the announcement of the Scientific Award and Poster Award winners.
