March 2004 | Vol. 22/No. 3 BREAKING NEWSARDMS Board Votes Not to Change RVT credential name to RDVSOn March 2, SVU received an official letter from ARDMS informing SVU that at the Feb. 20-21 ARDMS Board of Directors Winter Meeting, the ARDMS Board voted unanimously NOT to change the existing Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) credential name to Registered Diagnostic Vascular Sonographer (RDVS) as SVU had requested in March 2003. ARDMS Executive Director Dale Cyr, MBA, CAE, said that although the credential name change had extensive support within the vascular ultrasound community, the Board made their decision for two main reasons: (1) they believed the RVT credential is very well known within the vascular ultrasound profession and has a strong brand that they did not want to lose by changing the RVT credential to RDVS, and (2) many Board members believed they were trying to fix something that isn't broken. The current RVT credential is well known and respected in the vascular ultrasound profession. |
