e-Spectrum, SVU's new online monthly newsletter replaces the former printed bi-monthly newsletter. In order to enhance member services, SVU now will publish Spectrum as a monthly electronic newsletter posted on the "Members' Only" page of the SVU website. This new membership benefit will provide SVU members with more timely and complete vascular profession news and information, especially on the activities of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). We are looking forward to this change since it will allow SVU to provide you with breaking news and information on a more frequent basis. You will be able to access e-Spectrum from anywhere on the SVU website. The electronic version will have more references and website links to news and information on other health related society and government agency websites. You now will have the opportunity to selectively click on the topics about which you want more in-depth information. SVU has decided to move to an electronic format for the newsletter for several reasons. With the high cost of printing and postage many associations have moved to electronic newsletters in recent years. In order to keep down postage costs, SVU has mailed Spectrum to members at the third class bulk rate. However, that resulted in significant delays in the delivery of the newsletter, especially on the West Coast, and in many cases with old news. In addition, with the increasing use of computers and the Internet, many members have requested access to the newsletter in an electronic format that can be read online at the member's leisure, printed, saved in a folder for future reference, or forwarded to others. Many of the regular topics in the current Spectrum will be continued in e-Spectrum . But SVU now will be able to provide news and information of interest to you and your professional career in a more timely manner. Please provide SVU with feedback on the new e-Spectrum and any ideas you may have for additional information you would like to see in the newsletter. Thanks! Steve Haracznak
