LANHAM, MD, June 1, 2007 — The Society for Vascular Ultrasound (SVU) recently awarded a $1,000 educational scholarship to five SVU members to enable them to attend the SVU 30th Anniversary Annual Conference in Baltimore, June 7-9, 2007, at the Baltimore Convention Center. The five scholarships were based on a generous $5,000 educational grant from Philips Medical Systems, Bothell, WA.

SVU members interested in attending the SVU 2007 Annual Conference in Baltimore but who couldn't afford to go on their own were asked to write a 400-word or less essay explaining why SVU should award an Annual Conference scholarship to them. A judging panel of SVU Fellows reviewed each of the essays received and selected the following five SVU members to receive a $1,000 scholarship to help pay for their Annual Conference registration, hotel and travel costs to attend the 2007 SVU Annual Conference in Baltimore:

  • Sheila Byrd-Raynor, Harrow, Middlesex, England
  • Kelly R. Byrnes, Georgetown, Indiana
  • Makenzie M. Carr, Sacramento, California
  • Meagan Lehman, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
  • James Moor, Portland, Oregon

The SVU Board of Directors is very grateful to Philips for providing again an unrestricted $5,000 educational grant so that five deserving SVU members, who otherwise would be unable to be in Baltimore, are able to receive a $1,000 scholarship to enable them to attend the 2007 SVU Annual Conference.
