LANHAM, MD, September 15, 2006 - The Society for Vascular Ultrasound (SVU) has published the third quarter September 2006 issue of The Journal for Vascular Ultrasound (JVU), its quarterly peer-reviewed journal. This September JVU issue contains a special Memoriam for Michael P. Rush, RVT, FSVU, as well as a Memoriam for Merrill P. Michael P. Rush was very active in the Society for Vascular Ultrasound since the Society's first annual conference in 1978. He served on many SVU committees, was a contributing author to the Journal for Vascular Ultrasound and a member of the JVU Editorial Board. He received the SVU Distinguished Service Award in 1994 and was a SVU Fellow.

Merrill P. Spencer, M.D. pioneered a Doppler ultrasound device to detect nitrogen bubbles to predict and study "the Bends" in divers. Dr. Spencer was co-founder of the company, Spencer Technologies, Inc., which developed Transcranial Doppler (TCD) instrumentation to diagnose blood flow conditions in the brain, and to detect emboli in flowing blood.
