LANHAM, MD, May 12, 2006- The Society for Vascular Ultrasound (SVU) announced that the co-recipients of the first Anne Jones Educational Scholarship are Alison Beam, a vascular ultrasound student at Kettering College of Medical Arts, Kettering, OH, and Jenavi Iida, a vascular ultrasound student at the Oregon Institute of Technology, Klamath Falls, OR.

Each student received an Anne Jones Scholarship award certificate from SVU and a scholarship check for $1,250 will be sent to their respective schools toward their tuition for the fall 2006 semester. A total of 10 vascular ultrasound students entered the 2006 Anne Jones Scholarship competition. The vascular ultrasound students were judged on their academic grade point average, career goals, a written essay, recommendations, extracurricular activities and financial need.

This SVU annual education scholarship honors the many contributions made to SVU and the vascular ultrasound profession by Anne Jones, former SVU President (1985-1986) and former Chair of SVU's Government Relations Committee for several years. Her commitment, tenacity and many contributions to the vascular ultrasound profession over the years are matched by few in the vascular ultrasound profession.

The purpose of the annual Anne Jones Scholarship is to provide a qualified student applicant with a monetary amount to further his/her education in vascular ultrasound and pursue a career in the vascular ultrasound profession. The scholarship is funded by voluntary contributions by SVU members.
