Kathleen Carter and Michael Schwebler Receive SVU Distinguished Service Awards

LANHAM, MD, July 11, 2005 -- The Society for Vascular Ultrasound (SVU) awarded two 2005 Distinguished Service Awards at its 28th Annual Conference, June 16-18, 2005 in Chicago, IL. The Distinguished Service Award was established in 1987 and recognizes meritorious service by an SVU member.

Kathleen A. Carter, BSN RN RVT FSVU, received a Distinguished Service Award in recognition of her meritorious service to SVU as a past Director on the SVU Board, as the current SVU Secretary, for her work on several SVU’s Committees, and as Chair of the Annual Conference Committee for the past two years. In addition, as a result of her work with ARDMS for several years, she has helped to raise the standards of the vascular ultrasound profession. She is currently the Technical Director at the Vascular Laboratory of the Vascular and Transplant Specialists in Norfolk, VA.

Michael W. Schwebler, MBA RVT, received a Distinguished Service Award for his meritorious service to SVU as a Director on the SVU Board, current Vice President, and former Chair of SVU’s Membership Committee for several years, and for his dedicated efforts to develop a student outreach program which has resulted in more than 200 new vascular student members within the past two years. He also developed a Student Profile Directory form for the SVU website to help students get their first professional job upon graduation. He is currently the Chief Operating Officer for the Midwest Ultrasound, Inc. in Milford, OH.
