LANHAM, MD, July 11, 2005 -- The Society for Vascular Ultrasound (SVU) awarded two 2005 Certificates of Appreciation at its 28th Annual Conference, June 16-18, 2005 in Chicago, IL. The Certificate of Appreciation is bestowed upon individuals or groups in recognition of creative endeavor or outstanding achievement in promoting noninvasive vascular technology. Terrence Case, PA Med RVT, Program Director, Assistant Professor, Nova Southeastern University, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, received a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of his innovative leadership in developing a four-year B.S. degree program in vascular technology at Nova Southeastern University, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. This is one of only three four-year vascular technology degree programs in the U.S. He also is recognized for keeping the high standards for a credentialing exam and for always being accessible and enthusiastic about the vascular ultrasound profession and SVU. Another Certificate of Appreciation was presented to Sandra L. Katanick, AS RN RVT FSVU CAE, Executive Director, ICAVL, Columbia, MD, in recognition of her pioneering efforts in developing an accreditation process for vascular laboratories by defining minimal requirements for a vascular laboratory to provide high quality care to consumers. There are now 1100 accredited vascular labs. She and ICAVL also have supported the CQU on its efforts to foster payment policies that support payment only for quality vascular testing through a laboratory accreditation and/or technologist/sonographer credentialing requirement. |
