Society for Vascular Ultrasound Publishes March 2005 Issue of the Journal for Vascular Ultrasound

 

LANHAM, MD, April 19, 2005 – The Society for Vascular Ultrasound (SVU) has published the first quarter March 2005 issue of The Journal for Vascular Ultrasound (JVU), its quarterly peer-reviewed journal. This March JVU issue features the 3 scientific articles, 3 case reports, and 2 book reviews.

Scientific Articles

  • Fibromuscular Dysplasia of the Carotid Artery: Diagnosis with Duplex Ultrasonography by Wei Zhou et al.
  • Beyond the Categories: A Formula-Driven Prediction of Carotid Stenosis by Christopher M. Bulger et al.
  • Validation of an Automated Computerized Analyzing Systems for Measuring Common Carotid Artery Intima-Media Thickness by Brightness Mode Ultrasound by Helmuth F. Fritz et al.

Case Reports

  • Carotid Artery Pseudoaneurysm After Endovascular Stent Placement: Diagnosis and Follow-Up Duplex Ultrasonography by Wei Zhou et al.
  • Ultrasound Assessment of Takayasu’s Arteritis by Y. M. Butchter et al. This paper was presented at the 2004 SVU Annual Conference in Anaheim, CA and won the “ D.E. Strandness, MD Scientific Award” for the outstanding oral presentation of scientific research in vascular technology. Yvonne M. Butcher, DMU (Med), DMU (Vasc), is from Queensland Vascular Diagnostics, in Queensland, Australia. This award is named in honor of D.E. Strandness, the acknowledged “Father of Noninvasive Diagnosis,” who died in January 2002.
  • Traumatic Renal Transplant Subcapsular Hematoma: Diagnosis by Duplex Ultrasound by Nancy Tuvell and Kathryn Sorrell. This paper was also presented at the 2004 SVU Annual Conference as a poster and won the “ Excellence in Case Study Poster Presentation Award.” Nancy Tuvell, RVT is from Sentara Hospitals, Chesapeake, VA.
