February 15, 2008 is Deadline to Nominate Someone for a 2008 SVU Service or Scientific Award

Each year SVU members have the unique opportunity to honor hard working and dedicated colleagues in our Society and the vascular ultrasound profession by nominating them for an SVU Service Award.

These Service Awards will be presented at SVU’s 2008 Annual Conference during the 2008 Vascular Annual Meeting, June 5-7, 2008 in San Diego, CA, at the San Diego Convention Center.

The SVU Service Awards that could be presented in San Diego include:

• Leadership Award
• Distinguished Service Award
• Certificate of Appreciation
• Honorary Membership

According to Awards Subcommittee Chair Pat Marques, “These prestigious SVU Awards give deserved recognition to fellow SVU members for their outstanding leadership, contributions, and service to SVU, as well as to the noninvasive vascular ultrasound profession.”

Pat also is looking for nominations for two SVU scientific awards -- the SVU Professional Achievement Award and the SVU Pioneer Award. First presented in 2007 to Jean Primozich, BS, RVT, FSVU, the Professional Achievement Award can be presented to a past or current SVU member who has made substantial contributions to the vascular technology profession through education (traditional or non-traditional) or scientific research (contributor, implementation or new modality).

Nominations also are requested for the 2008 SVU Pioneer Award, which recognizes an individual’s outstanding pioneer contributions to the field of noninvasive vascular diagnostics. It was last presented in 2006 to D. Eugene Hokanson.

The description and qualifications for each award, as well as the list of all previous SVU award recipients, are posted on the SVU website at www.svunet.org/members/awards.htm. Submit the 2008 Award Nomination Form online.

The deadline for submitting a 2008 SVU Award Nomination Form to the Awards Subcommittee for consideration is February 15, 2008. Thanks to the many award nominations received last year, SVU was able to recognize several deserving SVU colleagues at the 2007 SVU Annual Conference in Baltimore this past June.
