Greater Boston Vascular Technologists (GBVT)Greater Boston Vascular Technologists (GBVT) and the MGH Vascular Diagnostic Laboratory co-hosted a conference at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on November 14, 2007. Over 60 attendees were present from Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York, and Rhode Island. Featured speakers were: Michael Jaff, DO, RPVI, and Javier Romero, MD from MGH and Joseph Polak, MD from Tufts New England Medical Center. Dr. Jaff gave a fascinating lecture on "The Use of the Vascular Laboratory to Assess Cardiovascular Risk.” Dr. Romero's presentation on "Nonatheromatous Carotid Artery Disease" included remarkable case study presentations of unusual carotid findings, followed by Dr. Polak's discussion on "Carotid Plaque Characterization." The reviews for the meeting were all unanimous in stating it was an exceptional opportunity to hear world-class speakers on a local level. It was an outstanding success and we look forward to providing another opportunity like this in spring of 2008. GBVT is accepting nominations for open positions of Vice President as well as Secretary. If you would like to nominate someone or nominate yourself, please contact Kathleen Hannon at 617-724-1581 or email: khannon@partners.org Chapter Information Reporting RequirementsAs a reminder, the 2008 SVU chapter dues invoices recently have been sent to the contacts on file for each of the SVU Affiliated Chapters.
