Upcoming Chapter Meetings

As you start to plan your fall chapter meeting schedule, don’t forget to include the SVU Chapters Subcommittee in your plans by sending us information regarding your meeting. By doing so, you will be able to reach all vascular technologist in your area. Placing a notice of your meeting in SVU’s monthly e-Spectrum online newsletter helps to promote your chapter and in turn may increase your chapter’s membership. You can e-mail the information to either Jeanette at Jeflannery@sbhcs.com or to KoKo at Parkm@ccf.org.

Red River Valley Vascular Society

RRVVS will be having their annual fall meeting on September 19-20. Registration on Friday evening, Sept. 19, will be followed by a session for case studies. Technologists are invited to bring an interesting case to share with their colleagues. Saturday, September 20, is a full day of lectures and includes a hands-on scanning lab. Patient volunteers will be available during this time so technologists can gain knowledge of scanning for venous perforators.

Featured speakers include: Jill Beithon, RDMS RDCS RVT; Jodi Ihrig, RVT VNUS; Carol Miranda, RVT RDMS; and Dr. Kevin Schoepel. Presentations will include: upper extremity venous evaluation for dialysis access, AVF/AVG ultrasound criteria, venous insufficiency, renal artery duplex, and comparison of segmental exams and angiography. 6-6.5 CME credits will be available

ONKIVT/KVS Joint Chapter Meeting

The Ohio, Northern Kentucky, Indiana Vascular Technologist (ONKIVT) chapter and the Kentucky Vascular Society (KVS) chapter will be holding their Fall 2008 Joint Vascular Symposium on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at the NKU-METS Center in Erlanger, KY, near the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport. This will be the third joint annual meeting for these two chapters. Cost is $40 including meals and 6.5 SVU CMEs are offered. Some of the speakers include: Marsha Neumyer, JP Hughes, Bob Scissons, Tish Poe, Vicki Gatz and Dave Parlato. The course also will have a vendor didactic showcase with groups of attendees rotating to each vendor for 15 minutes. Chapter Websites on SVU’s Website

Visit the following six SVU Chapter websites that are hosted by SVU on the SVU website: Chicago Area Vascular Association (CAVA), Greater Boston Vascular Technologists (GBVT), Kentucky Vascular Society (KVS), Northeastern Pennsylvania Vascular Chapter (NEPVC), Northern Ohio Vascular Association (NOVA), and Ohio, Northern Kentucky, Indiana Vascular Technologists (ONIKIVT).

The Greater Pittsburgh Vascular Technologist (GPVT), Houston Society of Noninvasive Vascular Technology (HSNIVT), Northwest Vascular Technologists (NWVT) and Red River Valley Vascular Society (RRVS) are also showcased on the SVU website and can be accessed through the SVU website under Affiliated Chapters.

Congratulations to these chapters for their unique ways of presenting their chapter’s information and for keeping their members informed with up-to-date information.

SVU will assist Affiliated Chapters who wish to create and maintain a chapter website on the SVU website, but may not have the resources to do so. SVU will provide the basic development of a chapter’s website with the chapter paying an hourly rate if more work is desired past SVU’s budget rate.
