October 2006 Joint Chapter Seminar with OnKIVT & KVSThe Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Indiana Chapter of Vascular Technologists and Kentucky Vascular Society held a joint meeting at the Northern Kentucky University METS Center for Corporate Learning on Saturday October 28th. We would like to thank the faculty, sponsors and attendees for a great ½ day 4 CME seminar. Dr. John Gurley from University of Kentucky gave a fascinating talk on PFO clinical manifestations and closure procedures. Dr. Thomas Schwarcz of Lexington Surgeons Group got us up-to-date on using duplex ultrasound in diagnosing and treating varicose veins. Dr. Sashi Kilaru of Cranley Surgical Associates showed many new peripheral intervention devices and described their use. Michael Chudik of Philips Healthcare IT gave a great summary of the issues in converting to a digital lab. Jennifer Prewitt, Siemens Applications Specialist, gave a very informative lecture on applying good ergonomics in the Vascular Lab. J.P. Hughes from Navix Diagnostics, also an SVU Director and Fellow, spoke on a highly requested topic, dialysis access. And our SVU President Elect Michael Schwebler wrapped up with an update of SVU Government Relations issues. We had great vendor support for this event, enabling us to hold it at the brand new high-tech METS conference center. Contributing and exhibiting were: Axess Ultrasound, GE Healthcare, Midwest Ultrasound, Philips Medical Systems, Siemens Medical Solutions, Sonosite, Viasys Healthcare, and Zonare. Thanks to all for making this event possible and successful! |
