SVU 2008 Annual Conference Update

The 2008 SVU Annual Conference Preliminary Program is posted on the SVU website for your review in terms of available general and invited speaker sessions, topics and speakers, as well as the nine early morning tutorials, three Lunch with the Experts sessions, five Skills Lab sessions, and a special joint SVS/SVU session on Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR). The SVU Preliminary Program on the SVU website is updated on a weekly basis so you will want to check back regularly to see the latest additions. Go to the 2008 SVU Annual Conference website page at svunet.org/annual_conference/ to register online now for the 2008 Annual Conference, and to make your room reservation online at the Omni Hotel, SVU’s headquarters hotel.

The Omni Hotel is approximately a 5-minute walk to the San Diego Convention Center where most of the SVU Annual Conference sessions, and the VAM Exhibit, will be held. The hotel is located in the historic Gaslamp Quarter, home to more than 100 of the city’s finest restaurants, 35 pubs and nightclubs, and 100 retail shops. The hotel also is adjacent to Petco Park where the San Diego Padres play baseball; and the Padres will be playing at home that week. There is something for everyone in the Gaslamp Quarter.

Volunteers Needed

As always, SVU will need several volunteers to help staff the many SVU sessions and events at the Annual Conference. We hope to get SVU student volunteers from the Grossmont College, El Cajon, CA, and the Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT) in Klamath Falls, OR. Any student who volunteers to help SVU at the 2008 Annual Conference will get 50% off their student AC registration fee. We hope that members of affiliated SVU chapters also may have some time to volunteer for SVU. If interested, please contact Missi McLean, Director of Membership & Meetings, at mmclean@svunet.org; or toll-free at 800-788-8346.

If you get to San Diego on Wednesday to attend any of the pre-conference sessions, you will want to attend SVU’s Special “Meet & Greet” Reception for SVU Annual Conference attendees only from 7:00-8:00 pm in the Omni Hotel, sponsored in part by the Red River Valley Vascular Society and the Healthcare Providers Service Organization (HPSO). Enjoy some food and drinks your first night in San Diego in an outdoor reception overlooking the San Diego harbor, and get to meet the SVU Board, Committee members and staff.

Remember to check the SVU website, your email in-box, and the e-Spectrum monthly online newsletter for updated information on the 2008 SVU Annual Conference. And Register NOW for the 2008 SVU Annual Conference in San Diego in June!
