SVT is expanding the role of the Legislative Watch Subcommittee and wants to identify individuals interested in serving the society by monitoring state Medicare carriers. The goal is to have members in each state who would serve as representatives to the state Carrier Medical Director (CMD). Ideally, each group will draw from physicians' offices, IDTFs, hospitals, and other organizations. Once organized, a representative of the group will contact the state CMD, and describe SVT's position on reimbursement issues. State representatives should be prepared to monitor local Medicare payment policies, and respond to proposals with adequate documentation to support their positions. Once representatives have been selected, SVT will publish volunteers participating in each group and notify the Carrier Medical Directors in each state.
