Department of Labor Reclassifies "Sonographers"

In the past, sonographers were listed by the Department of Labor (DoL) as a subcategory of Radiologic Technologists. Recently, the DoL has reclassified "Diagnostic Medical Sonographer" as a profession in the DoL's Occupation Outlook Handbook. This handbook is used by career counselors and human resource people to define professions, write job descriptions, and determine appropriate salaries.
