12/31/2002—Today's Federal Register contains the Final Rule
for the 2003 Physician Fee Schedule. Short version: it will be effective
3/1/2003 and includes a 4.4% decrease in the conversion factor,
which will be enacted barring congressional intervention. However,
given our efforts over the past several years (with gratitude to
SVU & SDMS for funding, and most
specifically to Bob Zwolak and Anne Jones for countless hours of
work), noninvasive vascular studies will, on average, have a slight
increase in
reimbursement.
