The Sonography Licensure Coalition (SLC) was formed recently to address the pending state legislation in Oregon proposing licensing of all medical imaging professionals, including ultrasonographers and vascular technologists. SVU has appointed Oregon member Claudia Rumwell as our representative on the Task Force contributing to the development of this legislation for consideration by the Oregon legislature in 2009. The Sonography Licensure Coalition includes:
- American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
- American Society of Echocardiography (ASE)
- Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
- Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS)
- Society for Vascular Ultrasound (SVU)
- Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS)
- Society of Invasive Cardiovascular Professionals (SICP)
The SLC submitted formal comments on the Legislative Concept Proposal language provided by the Oregon Board of Radiologic Technologists (OBRT), and attended the most recent hearing in mid-March. SVU, as a member of the Coalition, will continue to actively monitor and participate in the development of this landmark state legislation, ensuring that the vascular sonography profession is fairly represented. |
